New kid on the block out of Nashville is Jameson Clark who
released his debut album on the Capitol Records label in October.
Blending country with rock 'n' roll, Workin'
On The Grove is supported by the first single and video of
the fun song "You Da Man".
The video is a tongue in cheek look at a man who sees himself as
God's Gift to women in which Clark adorns himself with flashy gold
chains, sports false wig and moustache because he "da
man".
Co-writing all 8 tracks on this medium priced album, Jameson
Clark primary sees himself as a songwriter. Clark certainly has a
voice that instantly grabs your attention and the September 2002
edition of Penthouse magazine compares his voice and phrasing as if
he is Garry Allen's younger brother. Born and raised in Starr, South
Carolina, Clarke's mother played piano in church where she made him
sing with his brother. At the age of sixteen Clark convinced the
lady running the local beauty pageant to let him entertain between
wardrobe changes. Performing Randy Travis's "On The Other
Hand", Clark drew instant appeal with the crowd giving him a
standing ovation. Jameson Clark made his move to Nashville taking
jobs such as short order cook at Douglas Corner Café and put a band
together playing at Robert's Western World. Five years to the day of
his move to Nashville Jameson Clark landed a publishing deal with
BMG that led to his recording deal with Capitol.
Listen to "Waitin' On The Whiskey"
where country rock collides with the Bakersfield sound. The title
track "Workin On The Grove"
and "All Afternoon" have a
lazy East Coast feel about them, reminiscent of the likes of the
Bellamy Bros and Jimmy Buffett. The fun side of Clark shine through
once more with "I Like Blondes"
and being bleach blond himself; Clark states, "What I want
everyone around me to be doing is looking for a good time all the
time. And this album helps you find that good time groove and
hopefully you can stay in it for a while." Take a chance on Workin'
On A Groove and let the good times roll!!! |
