Australian songbird Karen Lynne has made two
tours of the UK since late 1999, with the most recent
being around October 2002. Karen has a plethora of
achievements behind her, especially in 2002 being
amongst the 4 top finalists for the Australian
Independent Country Music Awards for Female Vocalist
and gaining a Top 5 Hit with "This Ring" on
the Australian Country Music Charts. Karen's début
album gained rave reviews in the UK and abroad, now
she releases her second solo album….Second
Wind. 14
numbers are featured here with Karen co-writing 3
songs; the tender love song "I Found You",
followed by the poignant "Try Telling My
Heart" and the last track on the album "You
Just Don't Get It".
Karen has a voice that many a singer would KILL
for, strong, sweet and once heard, not forgotten!!!
Rodney Crowell's sensational "This Man I
Love" opens this new extravaganza with Karen
dedicating the song to her husband of only a year or
two….Marty. Hot on its heels we find another
breathtaking track with Michael Johnson/Joanie
Beeson's "When She Smiled At Him" as a man
reflects on his love for his daughter. Top country
writer Kostas along with Richard Bennett lend
"Ill Just Pretend" with Karen approaching it
with a slow heartfelt sensitivity suitably assisted
with the subdued cry of a pedal steel and lilting
fiddle.
A sensitive duet with Grant Richardson is full
of mixed emotions as it tugs at the heartstrings with
"Hopelessly Yours", co-written by Curly
Putman, Don Cook and Keith Whitley. The title cut
comes from the pen of bluegrass artiste Claire Lynch,
co-written with Pamela Brown Hayes
A gang of top quality musicians have been
assembled for Second Wind, giving rise to a strong and
exciting album full of soul-searching songs
idyllically dovetailed with a delicacy of feeling and
the amazing vocal range of Karen Lynne.
