Hailing from Birkenhead near Liverpool, singer songwriter
Charlie Landsborough has definitely moved on since he used
to play the local country music club scene. Now one of Ireland's
biggest selling artistes, a few years ago Charlie took the
#1 spot on the Irish charts with "What Colour The Wind",
holding Garth Brooks off the top position.
More recently Charlie completed a sell-out tour of Ireland
and is set to go on the road again later this year with
a 40-date UK/Irish tour. On June 23rd Charlie was invited
to perform before Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern at
the Special Olympics Ireland National Games. Over 1600 Irish
athletes with learning disability from 32 counties compete
in 14 different sports; with 250 athletes from 21 European
countries will join the event. Charlie's song "Special"
was used as the Olympics way of saying thank-you
to the 5000 strong team of volunteers. Two versions of the
song can be found here, with a choir from St Ambrose RC
School being featured with Charlie on the final track. The
song is written about a little girl whom Charlie once taught
in his former life as a schoolteacher.
Movin' On is Charlie's
ninth studio album, 17 new tracks released in July on the
Telstar Premier label. Charlie Landsborough's distinctive
vocals and style encompasses a range of country, ballads
and inspirational blues with "Sunshine".
"Who Can Blame Him"
and "Passing Through"
picks up the tempo with a solid country tone, while "If
I Only Had Wings" and "Like
Rain" offer slow sensitive ballads, communicating
Charlie's inimitable vocals to perfection.
Movin' On is a well-balanced
album, with all the songs written by Charlie Landsborough
who is aided and abetted by a string of top quality musicians.
